Robert Budgell studied design at Ryerson University before managing a retail art gallery at Toronto's Harbourfront. He combined his appreciation of art with interior design, while meeting and socializing with artists of all kinds. Robert, throughout his life, has acquired a unique knowledge and understanding of urban spaces and living, which has proved to be extremely useful to home buyers. In 2006, seeking to leverage his talents in an environment with new challenges, he began his real estate career. Robert decided to learn the business from the bottom-up, so for the first six months he worked as a personal assistant to a well-established realtor acquiring invaluable knowledge. The combination of design, architecture, business challenge, learning new things and meeting new and interesting people proved to be a perfect environment in which he could thrive. Today, Robert is both a realtor and a brokerage manager with Real Estate Homeward at the Beach Office. He is known as the go to person for 'true lofts' also known as 'hard lofts' (Soft lofts are condos pretending to be lofts in new buildings, whereas hard lofts are carved out of old buildings). Robert has been living in downtown 'true lofts' for over 15 years and is plugged into what is happening in different buildings, especially in the downtown east neighbourhoods. His greatest strength has proven to be his people skills; helping others keep their perspective, educating and explaining things to them, and making them feel comfortable in their experience. Robert's ability to help others feel comfortable, is also greatly appreciated by his clients, most of which are first-time buyers, at first unfamiliar with what to expect and needing lots of guidance. His philosophy is to provide high level customer service, while having discipline and consistency in whatever needs to be done. Robert's experience in managing other realtors and encountering many situations, has taught him that to succeed in real estate it is important to keep your cool, know when to say 'no', and when you need to get help. He has been voted Real Estate Homeward's "Team Player".
